A Taste of Tradition
Our chefs bring dedication and passion to every dish, with food and drink that celebrate bold simplicity and heart. Think homemade pies, juicy steaks, vibrant veg with a proper bite, and sweet treats that please both the eye and the soul.
These are dishes that arrive at the table steaming and full of character, often made with ingredients from talented local producers. Nothing fancy – just food done right, with care and craft.
And the drinks? Local brews with a story to tell, wines chosen for flavour not fame, carefully selected British spirits, and cocktails that delight without showing off.

Crafted Drinks
At our pub, the drinks are chosen with as much care as the food. Local ales, perfectly kept and full of character. Crisp, coastal whites and robust reds that stand up to hearty dishes. A thoughtful gin and tonic, a warming whisky by the fire. Nothing flashy, just honest, well-balanced flavours that complement the food and reflect the land around you. The kind of drinks you remember, not because they shouted, but because they quietly belonged.

A Sunday Traditon
The Sunday roast, an age old British tradition, reimagined with a playful nod in our pub. Perfectly roasted meats, spuds with a satisfying crunch, Yorkshires puffed up like proud old hats, and seasonal veg with just the right bite. All bathed in chefs rich, glossy gravy. It’s a meal that feels like a hug from history, comforting, familiar, tasty, but done with just enough finesse to keep things interesting. A proper Sunday, done right.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year
Christmas in our pub is all about connection – seasonal food crafted with care, shared with the people who matter most. The turkey is slow-roasted for tenderness, served with golden roasties, crisp pigs in blankets, and winter veg cooked to perfection. A rich, glossy gravy and a sharp cranberry sauce bring balance to every bite.
But it’s more than the food – it’s the shared plates, the flowing conversation, the clink of glasses, and the warmth of festive laughter. And to finish? A well-made Christmas pudding – the final, indulgent gesture in a celebration to remember.

The Function Room
The Wig & Mitre in Lincoln has, rather sensibly, got a proper function room upstairs. It’s not flash, but it’s comfortable and has its own entrance, which is quite civilised if you want a bit of separation from the main pub hubbub. Perfect for birthdays, small weddings, or a business lunch. It’s all very straightforward, good food, decent drink, and a space that does exactly what you need it to.
